Personal Trainer

Personal Trainer – Independent Contractor

Personal Trainer – Independent Contractor

Position Overview

Rise & Grind Fitness is seeking motivated, professional, and certified Personal Trainers to work with members looking for individualized fitness coaching and programming.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position, giving trainers the flexibility to operate their own personal training business while working with clients at Rise & Grind Fitness. Trainers are responsible for managing their own schedules, developing training programs, establishing their rates and packages, and maintaining the certifications and insurance necessary to provide professional training services.

Rather than working predetermined shifts, trainers will have access to available training times through our scheduling software and may book clients based on their own availability.

Compensation

Personal Trainers are not paid an hourly wage by Rise & Grind Fitness.

Trainers may establish their own:

  • Hourly training rates
  • Individual session pricing
  • Multi-session packages
  • Recurring personal training subscriptions

All pricing and packages are subject to approval by Rise & Grind Fitness.

Under our standard revenue-sharing arrangement, the trainer receives 75% of personal training revenue and Rise & Grind Fitness retains 25%. Client payments are processed through the gym’s approved payment system.

Because trainers establish their own pricing and control the number of clients and sessions they accept, individual earnings will vary based on rates, availability, and client volume.

Schedule & Client Booking

This position offers a high degree of scheduling flexibility.

Personal Trainers:

  • Create and manage their own schedules.
  • Select from available training times within the gym’s scheduling software.
  • Schedule clients based on trainer and facility availability.
  • Determine how many clients and training sessions they wish to accept.
  • Are responsible for maintaining and updating their availability.
  • Are expected to honor scheduled appointments and communicate professionally with clients regarding scheduling changes or cancellations.

There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours or clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Personal Trainers will be responsible for:

  • Conducting safe and effective one-on-one or approved small-group personal training sessions.
  • Evaluating clients’ fitness levels, goals, limitations, and training needs.

  • Teaching proper exercise technique, form, and equipment usage.
  • Monitoring client progress and adjusting programs when appropriate.
  • Providing professional fitness guidance within the trainer’s scope of practice.

  • Communicating professionally and reliably with clients.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe training environment.
  • Returning equipment to its proper location following training sessions.
  • Following all Rise & Grind Fitness policies, facility rules, and safety procedures.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and protecting confidential client information.
  • Maintaining all required certifications, credentials, and insurance throughout the duration of the contractor relationship.

  • Remain active for the entire period in which the trainer provides services at Rise & Grind Fitness.
  • Name Rise & Grind Fitness as an Additional Insured, as required by the gym.

  • Comfortable working independently
  • Motivated to develop and maintain their own client base
  • Personable and able to build strong relationships with members

Independent Contractor Relationship

Personal Trainers at Rise & Grind Fitness are independent contractors and not employees of Rise & Grind Fitness. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, certifications, business expenses, and other obligations associated with operating as an independent contractor.

Contractors maintain control over their availability, subject to facility availability, gym policies, client scheduling requirements, and the terms of their independent contractor agreement.

If you’re a certified trainer looking for a professional facility where you can build your client base, control your schedule, and develop your personal training business, we’d like to hear from you.
